System Partition Resizing by Adding Unallocated Space

extend c drive

There are different ways to add unallocated space to system partition on different Server OS, but the easiest and safest way is to rely on third-party partition software. IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server enables you to shrink partition, move partition and extend partition without losing any data. If you want to add unallocated space to system partition, you only need to move the unallocated space close to system partition and then you can extend the partition effectively.

Is It Possible to Add Unallocated Space to Server System Partition?

"My computer is running Windows Server 2003 64bit OS with Western Digital 160GB hard disk that has been divided into three partitions C:, D: and E: drive. Now, the C: drive (system partition) is nearly full, D: drive has about 10GB free space and E: drive has about 50GB available space. What I want to do is to move some free space from E: drive to system partition C drive. Can you tell me how to add the free space from E: drive to C: drive without repartitioning the disk or deleting any data?"

Windows Server Extend System Partition with Unallocated Space

In order to extend a volume, unallocated space is always needed. If there is existing unallocated space, you need to move it close to the system partition. Usually, if your PC is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012, you can open Disk Management and extend the system partition there. If your PC is running Windows Server 2003, you will need to rely on third-party partition software to extend the system partition space. IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server enables you to extend C drive space on Windows Server 2003 2008 2012, etc. If there is no unallocated space, the partition software also enables you to squeeze from other partition that has enough free space.

Add Unallocated Space to System Partition in Windows Server R2

Similarly, you can extend system partition under Disk Management on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2. Disk Management helps you extend disk volume and shrink disk volume easily without losing data, but it cannot move partition. However, contiguous unallocated space is always needed in order to extend a partition. Therefore, IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server is often the best choice when you cannot move the unallocated space close to system partition under Disk Management. The partition software works on Windows 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2 to extend system partition without deleting any partition.

Windows SBS Extend System Partition with Unallocated Space

IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server can also extend system partition on Windows SBS Server such as Windows SBS 2003, SBS 2008 and SBS 2012, etc. The partition software can resize system partition on Windows Server SBS without touching the operating system or disk volume. Therefore, it is a completely safe and useful program for Windows Server users. In addition to extend basic hard disk volume, the partition software can also be compatible with RAID 5 array. You can extend RAID 5 system partition or other data volume without rebuilding the array or losing any data.
