Low Disk Space on Server 2008 System Partition

System partition space will be occupied day by day, thus the free space on system partition will become insufficient one day. Then, you will receive low disk space warning message. If you frequently receive low disk space warning message on Windows Server 2008, you had better free up space on the system partition or increase the size of system partition so as to fix the low disk space problem.

1. Free up space on system partition by deleting or moving files
Deleting or moving unnecessary files is the most common method that lots of people can come up with, but it can only free up little space which will be occupied soon.
2. Extend system partition by using partition software
Another possible method to fix low disk space is to extend the system partition space by relying on third-party partition software. This method can solve the problem thoroughly and get you out of low disk space issue easily.

Windows 2008 Extend System Partition

Extending system partition on Windows Server 2008 by using partition software is very easy, because you only need to follow the instructions to perform a few mouse clicks to get the partition expanded. Extend Server 2008 System Partition with Disk Management

If you don’t want to use any partition software but want to extend system partition on Windows Server 2008, you can open Disk Management. After opening Disk Management, you can see all partitions. You need to right click a partition that has enough free disk space and choose "Shrink Disk Volume" to produce some unallocated space. Then, you need to move the unallocated space close to system partition and right click system partition and choose "Extend Disk Volume" option. It sounds easy to extend system partition with Disk Management on Windows Server 2008, but the disadvantage is that you are unable to move partition.
