Windows Server Resize System Partition

System partition often plays an important role on computer, so it is often a little more difficult to extend a system partition. For example, Diskpart on Windows 2003 / 2008 has the function of extending partition, but it cannot extend a system partition. If you want to look for an easy way to resize system partition on Windows Server, professional partition software is the good choice. IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server works on all Windows Servers to extend system partition without any limitation. As long as there is free space on the same hard disk, you can extend system partition effectively by relying on this software.

Windows 2008 Resize Disk Volume

So far, there are two methods to resize disk volume on Windows Server 2008. The first method is to resize the volume by using the professional partition software recommended above. And the other way is to rely on Windows 2008 build-in disk management tool to resize the partition.
1. Partition software for Windows 2008 partition resizing
The partition software provides the easiest way to resize disk partition on Windows Server 2008. Considering not everyone is computer specialist, the partition software offers an easy way so that everybody knows how to handle it to perform partition resizing. This software can fix the problem when system partition is running out of disk space on Windows Server or data partition is lacking free space to store more data.

2. Disk Management to extend partition in Windows 2008
Open Disk Management and right click the partition you want to extend, you will find that there are "Extend Volume" and "Shrink Volume" option. If there is adjacent unallocated space beside the selected partition, you can simply choose "Extend Volume" option to get it you want to extend. If there is no adjacent unallocated space, the "Extend Volume" option will be grayed out. In this situation, you need to right click another partition that has free space and choose "Shrink Volume" option to create some unallocated space. The unallocated space will show at the end of the selected partition that you shrink. If you want to move the unallocated space close to the partition you want to extend, you need to delete the partitions between the unallocated space and the partition you need to extend. Therefore, Disk Management has its limitation when you want to extend a volume. If you do want to rely on Disk Management to extend a volume, you had better backup data before partition resizing.

You cannot open Disk Management for resizing a Windows Server 2003 partition, so you need to use IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server to fix the low disk space problem on Windows 2003.
