Windows SBS 2011

The Microsoft Windows Small Business Server (SBS) is a cost-effective software for small businesses. It is built with the best server technologies on the market with features of a consolidated management and affordable price tag. Some of the features of this version are that it is made in line with Windows Server 2008 RS, Exchange 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010. As a user, Windows SBS 2011 allows you to use any browser to access your Outlook Web Applications as well as the Remote Web Access Portal.

When it comes to Disk Management and partitioning, there are a number of ways that you can perform various actions on this server. And with the built-in disk management tool , Windows has given you an opportunity to troubleshoot issues with the help of Microsoft. That being said, these built-in methods are not 100 per cent guaranteed. They affect partition and can most likely make you lose data. But the most guaranteed option is via a third-party software like IM-Magic Server Edition . With these third party, you are provided with a guaranteed option to resolve major issues that may arise as a result of performing actions on your partitioned drives on the hard disk. In the subsequent headings below, we shall look at the built-in tool, and how the a IM-Magic Resizer is the most reliable.

It is important to state here that the two major disk space problems on Windows SBS 2011 server are:

1. There is no option of creating, formatting or deleting partitions. Which means that the Operating System will have to be installed on the whole hard disk.

2. C Drive gets full: Like other versions, the storage space on the C-Drive is not adequate. And it fills up quickly after you have updated your apps and software on the OS and the cache files rapidly ensure that the space is finished. When this happens, you will need to resize the c-drive and other drives on the hard disk.

How to extend the c-drive using the built-in tool

1.Right-click on the server folder and click on “move the folder” from the d-drive to the c-drive.

2.Open the Dashboard. Once it is open, click on the “Server Folders and Hard Drives” icon.

3.Go to the “Client Computer Backup”, right click on it and choose “Move the folder”.

4.Click on Next.

5.In the next dialog, choose the c-drive and click on the move folder.

6.Click next and then click close.

7.After this, you will have to make sure that there is no content in the D-drive.

8.Launch the Disk Management. Available on the start menu.

9.Right-click on the D-drive and click on delete volume.

10.Go to the c-drive, right-click on it and choose Extend. Click next, then fill out the amount of storage that you want extended on the c-drive (measured in MB- Megabytes). Then click next. And finish.

11.Or you can recreate the D-Drive after deleting it. In which case, you assign a particular amount of space to the newly created drive.
