Introduction

With the advent technology and modern working techniques, computer has become an important part of our official as well as personal lives. Windows SBS, also known as Small Business Server, was developed for small organizations to manage, process, and make use of digital data in a user-friendly manner. Windows SBS includes several efficiency programs and new features including file sharing, remote access, data protection utilities, email, and more that made it the best choice for official use.

However, with the increased use of system and application system, many people encounter low disk space in c-drive. As the SBS was used for office work, deleting data frequently to free up the c-drive is not very practical. Follow us through this article and learn how to extend c-drive for windows SBS 2011.

Extend C Drive SBS 2011

The SBS 2011 does not allow you to format, create, and delete partitions during the installation process. Therefore, you must install the windows on the hard disk. The SBS 2011 only provides you two partitions after the installation – one for the system files and one for the data storage. The c drive becomes full due to the following reasons.

• Temporary files

• System files

• Internet caches

• Application programs

As there are only partitions available on the SBS 2011 by default, you must separate the unallocated space from the data storage partition to extend the c-drive using Disk Management utility.

Cannot add unallocated space to the C-drive

After separating the unallocated, you might have been experiencing an error while extending the c-drive. This is because the unallocated space must be adjacent to the c-drive rather than the data storage partition.

It is recommended to extend the c-drive using a third-party partition resizing software to exclude any risks of data loss during this process.

Extend C volume using a third-party resizing software: IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server Edition

IM-Magic Partition Resizer is one of the best third-party disk management software. The IM-Magic Partition Resizer Server Edition allows you to manage the unallocated space adjacent to the drive that you want to extend. Follow the steps to extend c-drive using the IM-Magic Resizer

Overall, the IM-magic server edition is the best way to manage, extend, and shrink your partitions without any kind of data loss. If you are running out of disk space in both system and data storage partition, either delete enough programs, files, or data from the data partition or shift to a bigger hard disk.
