Usually, you need to merge unallocated space to system partition on Windows 10 because there is low disk space warning on the system partition. Windows 10 Disk Management and Diskpart command are two kinds of most common solutions for merging combine unallocated space to disk partition on Windows 10. However, in most case, you may fail to extend C drive with unallocated space with those two methods due to their limitations. Usually, you may run into following situations when you cannot merge unallocated space to system partition on Windows 10:

1. You may find that the unallocated partition is unusable when you right click the system partition because Windows 10 Disk Management is grayed out.

2. You may receive message saying that the volume you have selected may not be extended when you run Diskpart command to merge unallocated partition to system partition on Windows 10.
